During an international scientific conference within the framework of the project “Modernization of Master's Programs to Support the Transformation of the Forest Sector on the Path to Post-War Green Reconstruction of Ukraine (ForestPost)”, implemented with the support of the EU Erasmus+ program, we discussed the development of dual education for woodworking and furniture manufacturing specialties.
We discussed the 50/50 model, where students spend half of their time studying at university and half at a company. This approach allows them to gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills in real production conditions.
It is especially important to involve small and medium-sized furniture companies in this process, as they can become flexible partners in the development of new educational programs, providing students with the opportunity to engage with modern technologies, projects, and teams.
We would like to thank our colleagues from the National Forestry University of Ukraine — Orest Kiyko, Ihor Soloviy, and Oksana Yarish — for the invitation and fruitful discussion. The joint efforts of education and business are not about trends, but about the future of the industry and the key to high-quality training for the green reconstruction of Ukraine.
