The beginning of 2026 has brought significant regulatory changes for businesses engaged in international trade. In particular, the transitional period for the application of the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention in relations with the European Union has ended, and only its revised version is now in force. At the same time, changes in trade with the EFTA countries have not yet entered into force, while trade with the United Kingdom continues to be governed by the previous rules.

During the meeting, experts from First Chair Legal will provide an overview of the current free trade framework. They will discuss the application of the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention in 2026, the specifics of diagonal cumulation of origin, the reasons why it does not apply to the United Kingdom, and the expected timeline for its implementation with EFTA countries. Particular attention will also be paid to amendments to the Free Trade Agreement with Montenegro, as well as the prospects for the entry into force of free trade agreements with Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. In addition, the updated Guide on obtaining preferential origin of goods will be presented, along with practical insights into how it can support business operations.
