What does the real furniture business look like—not in theory, but in practice?
As part of the specialized week of the Cycle Commission of Wood Processing Technologies: education, innovation, and industry partnership, students, lecturers, and representatives of the furniture industry came together at the Vocational College of Technology of the Ukrainian National Forestry University.
The focus of the week was not only on the educational process, but primarily on building a real connection between education and the furniture market. Students of the “Wood Processing and Furniture Technologies” program had the opportunity to explore current trends, innovative solutions, and practical aspects of how companies operate.
A key element of the event was interaction with business, which helps students better understand the profession, its перспективи, and the real demands of the market.
An important role was played by the meeting with Andrii Varenytsia, who shared his professional journey—from choosing a specialty to building and scaling a business.
“These kinds of meetings are important for students—they see the real potential of their profession through live examples. In my opinion, students who study at institutions like this will shape the future of our country,” said Andrii Varenytsia, Founder and Owner of Varenycia Manufacture (Varenycia Group).
Special attention was also given to current challenges in the furniture market, opportunities for young professionals, and real employment prospects. This format of open dialogue allows students to see the profession not only through academic disciplines, but through the real-life experience of entrepreneurs.
“The Cycle Commission Week became an important platform for students’ professional development, strengthening cooperation with employers, and promoting the ‘Wood Processing and Furniture Technologies’ program,” shared Mariana Udovytska, Head of the Cycle Commission of Wood Processing Technologies at the Vocational College of Technology of the Ukrainian National Forestry University.
Effective cooperation between the educational environment and the industry helps shape a new generation of professionals in Ukraine’s woodworking and furniture sectors. The involvement of business representatives, including members of the Lviv Furniture Cluster, is an important element in the development of modern education. It contributes to aligning educational programs with market needs, improving the quality of specialist training, and creating an environment for professional growth.
