We are announcing enrollment for the online course “From Idea to Energy Community: How Communities Can Develop Renewable Energy.”
The NGO “SYNERGY Sustainable Development Agency” is opening enrollment for a basic online course for local leaders dedicated to the creation and development of green energy communities. After completing the training, the best teams will receive voucher support to continue working on their own projects.
Course objective
The program aims to help communities understand the key principles of creating energy communities, learn how to work with renewable energy sources, and develop sustainable local energy solutions.
Who is this course for?
The online course will be useful for:
• representatives of local government bodies;
• public organizations and initiative groups;
• employees of educational institutions;
• representatives of local businesses.
The goal is to bring together active participants who are interested in developing the energy independence of their communities.

Before the course starts, there will be an open webinar entitled “Shared Energy: Building Green Energy Communities in Ukraine.”
During the event, participants will be able to learn the details of the program and discuss:
• the legislative framework and harmonization with EU directives;
• the role of communities in ensuring Ukraine's energy sustainability;
• the importance of decentralized energy solutions for municipalities.
Speakers include:
• Lyubava Radichuk — Deputy Director of the Recovery and Reform Support Team at the Ministry of Regional Development;
• Inna Streltsova — Head of the Expert Group on Renewable Energy Development at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine;
• Taras Dobrivsky — Executive Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Territorial Communities.
What are green energy communities?
Energy communities are associations of citizens, businesses, and local authorities that jointly own, develop, and manage renewable energy projects.
The main advantages of such communities are:
• increased energy independence;
• joint investments in energy assets;
• reduction of energy costs;
• contribution to decarbonization and sustainable development of territories.
Energy communities can have various organizational and legal forms: a cooperative, association, non-profit organization, partnership, or SME.
About the online course program
The training consists of five theoretical modules and an acceleration part, during which participants will work in teams to create a business plan for a pilot energy community project.
After completing the course, participants will:
• understand the basic principles of energy communities;
• learn about successful European cases;
• learn how to develop financial and management models;
• learn how to build effective communication and engage stakeholders;
• be familiar with Ukrainian legislation and EU directives;
• know how municipalities can initiate and support such projects.

The best initiatives will receive support in the form of expert advice and assistance, including:
• legal, technical, and financial analysis;
• preparation of documents: business plan, feasibility study, charter, roadmap, etc.
