Lviv Furniture Cluster Supports the Transfer of Forest Policy Responsibilities to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy

The Lviv Furniture Cluster supports the transfer of responsibility for shaping and implementing state policy in the forestry sector to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Following the formation of the new Government, it is essential to ensure continuity of the decisions already developed and to preserve the outcomes of the interagency working group's efforts. These decisions are crucial for the sustainable development of Ukraine's wood processing and furniture industries, strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturers, and expanding exports of high value-added products.

In its appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Lviv Furniture Cluster highlighted several key priorities that should be reflected in the country's forestry policy:

• increasing the volume of legal and sustainable timber harvesting;
• introducing a zero export quota for unprocessed timber in 2027;
• ensuring a sufficient supply of raw materials for Ukrainian wood processing and furniture manufacturers to support value-added production;
• promoting industrial development, creating new jobs, and increasing exports of finished products.

The furniture and wood processing industries generate significant added value, provide thousands of jobs, and account for an important share of Ukraine's non-commodity exports. Therefore, state policy on forest resource management should primarily focus on supporting domestic processing industries and strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturers.

The Lviv Furniture Cluster will continue to actively contribute to the development of policies that foster the sustainable growth of the sector, enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian enterprises, and support the expansion of exports of Ukrainian-made products.
